2.5ml By Mouth Four Times Daily for 10 days
by: David

This Prescription is for the Reconstituted Antibiotic Keflex (Cephalexin 250mg per 5ml, and a 100ml bottle will be dispensed (more on this in a minute).)

1/2 tsp = 1/2 Teaspoonful = 2.5ml (in this example, 2.5ml contains 125mg Cephalexin)

po = by mouth

qid = Four Times Daily

x 10 days.

So put it all together:

2.5ml By Mouth Four Times Daily for 10 days

How did I figure that we would be dispensing a 100ml bottle?

Let's reverse-engineer from the beginning:

2.5ml po qid x 10 days

= 2.5ml x 4 x 10

= 100mls of Cephalexin 250mg/5ml needed

Thanks for the question, Rhonda!
