Why should you choose a career as a pharmacy technician?

-Working in the pharmacy field is rewarding. You get to provide an essential and valuable service. You help people improve and maintain their health and well being by accurately filling prescribed medications.

-It challenges your mind. You will need make a lot of math calculations about days supply and dosing, as well as figuring the quantity sufficient (or “QS”.) You have to be a detail-oriented person to be a technician and take all the details into account when processing prescriptions.

-Why Pharmacy? Employment of pharamcy technicians is anticipated to grow more rapidly than the average of all occupations. Job prospects are expected to be good. This is because of the increased pharmaceutical needs of a larger and aging population as well as the more prevalent use of medication by the public.

-Work in the pharmacy field is usually fast-paced. Managing your time well is essential and you have to be able to prioritize things and interruptions that come up.

-A pharmacy technician position does not require a formal 4-year college degree. While prospects for technicians are better for those who have previous training or experience, most pharmacies train technicians on the job.
