Usually once more than 75% of the calculated days supply is completed, you can get a refill... by: David
For most insurance companies, usually, once you have completed around 75% of the correct days supply of the medication, your prescription insurance will allow a refill. So, in the case of tablets, if you were given 30 tablets for a 30 days supply, and you used up 23 of them, taking them once daily, your insurance will usually allow for a refill.
In the case of your example question, my assumption is that you have been given a 180ml bottle. If you are taking 10ml by mouth every 4 hours, and as you've said, this is a 3 day supply. With these directions, you would consume 60ml (10ml X 6 daily doses) and in 3 days, you would be out of your supply.
My best guess on when you'd be able to refill it would be 2 days after you've filled it, or on the third day, at the very latest.
Please be sure not to take more of your cough syrup then has been ordered by your doctor. Follow the schedule of your doses as best as you can, and hopefully, you will be feeling better very soon.
