Narcotic Rxs for Severe Pelvic Pain Relief

Narcotic Rxs for Severe Pelvic Pain Relief

I got script of 40 norco; I broke my pelvis.

The directions on the first two scripts said one pill every 6 hrs, enough to last 10 days.

Now I started therapy and he gave me 40 pills but now the scrips says take 2 tabs every 4 hours OR take one every 6 hours.

How long should these last me, I’m confused! Thank you, Laura Wanat.

It Depends...

Well, the amount of time that these Rxs will last you will be dependant on factors which I don't have the information for. It depends on when you got the new Rxs with the sig of Take 2 tabs every 4 hours OR take 1 tab every 6 hours.

If we were to figure out how long that Rx will last, we can do that. So you have 40 pills. 2 tabs every 4 hours equals 12 tablets daily. This means that 40 pills will last you 3 days if you take the maximum amount defined by the sig of the prescription.

If the quantities of both of the first two Norco prescriptions were 40 tablets each, then the first Rx would have lasted you 10 days. Depending on when the third Rx was written, that would be the most important factor as to how many days of coverage you will have.

So the way for you to figure how many days of pain management coverage you will have is to figure out the day that the third prescription was written, and then take the balance of the quantity of the second Rx and add that to the third Rx and then divide the total by 12 pills per day and that will get your desired answer to this question.

I hope this makes sense. Your pharmacy should be making these calculations anyway and they should be right on top of this.

Thank you for the question Laura! I hope you are felling better and you are healing up. I'm sure that that wasn't an easy thing to go through. Take care of yourself!
