Prescription Authorization Information
Prescription Authorization must be given to a technician or pharmacist in order to dispense certain drugs. When a technician is filling a prescription for Thalomid (generic name: thalidomide), Isotretinoin, (trade names: Amneesteen, Sotret, Claravis or Accutane), or other such medications that require close monitoring, he or she must get authorization to dispense them. The authorizing agency or company depends on the medication. The rules, regulations, and laws in place are specific to the medication as well. For Thalomid (generic name: thalidomide), pharmacy technicians or pharmacists need to get authorization from the drug manufacturer, the Celgene corporation.
