Pain Management and Days Supply

I have #120 tramadol to take 1 every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Is this a 30 day supply? Do pharmacies go by the 6 hour allowed frequency or the 8 hours?

Yes, this is a thirty days supply

With as needed medication, usually pharmacies will go by the maximum amount per day allowed by the prescriber as long as that aligns with the documented clinical recommendations. There are exceptions, however.

Typically if you have #120 Tramadol, and you can take it up to 4 times daily (in other words, you take it every 6 hours as needed) this supply will last you 30 days.

If you only took it every eight hours (three times daily) then your supply would last you fourty days.

Either way, the pharmacy should indicate a 30 in the days supply field when submitting this order to the third party insurance carrier.

Thank you for the question!
