Days Supply - Prednisone? TAPER

David, could you please help me with this TAPER? How do you figure out the Days Supply on it? Maybe I'm making it more complicated than it is, but I don't understand how to do it. ALSO, How many tablets will this consist of?

The TAPER is:

Take 1 tablet twice daily for 4 days, take 1 tablet once daily for 8 days, then 1 tablet every other day for 8 days, then 1/2 tablet every other day for 7 days, then stop.

TAPER Answer: 27 Days Supply and 22 Total Tablets

Let's break it down, section by section, because that makes the most sense.

"Take 1 tablet twice daily for 4 days..."

(1) one tablet X (2) twice daily X (4) four days

1 X 2 X 4 = 8 tabs and 4 days

The next part is more straightforward, "...Then take 1 tablet daily for 8 days..."

1 X 8 = 8 tabs and 8 days

Next, "...1 tab every other day for eight days..."

1 tab X 4 days (every other) = 4 tabs and 8 days

Finally, we have this, "...1/2 tab every other day for 7 days."

1/2 tab X 4 Days (Day 1 of 7, day 3 of 7, 5 of 7, and 7 of 7)

= 2 whole tablets and 7 days

In conclusion, we tie all of this together.

8 tabs in 4 days
8 tabs in 8 days
4 tabs in 8 days
2 tabs in 7 days

Next, we total all of it up and get...

22 tabs and 27 days.
